YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). D. Get Access
(1) Open the left thrust-reverser cowl-door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.

4. Procedure(1) Open the left thrust-reverser cowl-door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.
(3) Installation of the engine protection covers
CAUTION:
INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
(a) Install all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine. Subtask 24-21-42-864-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL Subtask 24-21-42-020-068-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Removal of the IDG Oil/Oil Heat-Exchanger
(2) Put a CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) below the IDG oil/oil heat-exchanger.
(3) Make sure that the oil system is not pressurized:
(a) Wait five minutes after the engine shutdown.
(b) Open the oil tank cap to make sure that there is no pressure in the oil system.
(c) Close and lock the oil tank cap.
(4) Remove the IDG oil/oil heat-exchanger (3):
(a) Remove the five bolts (1) and the five washers (2).
(b) Remove the IDG oil/oil heat-exchanger (3).
(c) Use the lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.P05-005) to clean any excess oil.
(d) Remove the seal (4).
CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
(1) Find the IDG oil/oil heat-exchanger (3) on the engine at approximately the nine o'clock position. (2) Put a CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) below the IDG oil/oil heat-exchanger.
(3) Make sure that the oil system is not pressurized:
(a) Wait five minutes after the engine shutdown.
(b) Open the oil tank cap to make sure that there is no pressure in the oil system.
(c) Close and lock the oil tank cap.
(4) Remove the IDG oil/oil heat-exchanger (3):
(a) Remove the five bolts (1) and the five washers (2).
(b) Remove the IDG oil/oil heat-exchanger (3).
(c) Use the lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.P05-005) to clean any excess oil.
(d) Remove the seal (4).
NOTE: The seal (4) may be reused later (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-42-400-803).
