CAUTION: DO NOT LET ENGINE OIL FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED OIL MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY. THE OIL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

CAUTION: USE ONLY NEW CANS OF OIL WHEN YOU FILL THE IDG WITH OIL OR ADD OIL TO THE IDG. THE CONTAMINATION IN OIL THAT STAYS IN OPEN CANS CAN CAUSE FAST DETERIORATION OF THE OIL AND WILL DECREASE THE LIFE OF THE IDG.

CAUTION: DO NOT USE SOLVENTS THAT CONTAIN CHLORINE TO CLEAN THE EQUIPMENT (PUMP, HOSES, TANK AND FUNNEL) USED TO FILL THE IDG WITH OIL. CHLORINE CONTAMINATION OF THE OIL CAN CAUSE FAST DETERIORATION OF THE OIL AND WILL DECREASE THE LIFE OF THE IDG.

CAUTION: DO NOT OPERATE THE IDG:

IF IT CONTAINS TOO MUCH OIL
IF IT DOES NOT CONTAIN ENOUGH OIL

IF YOU DO, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE IDG.

CAUTION: DO NOT DO THE SERVICING OF A DISCONNECTED IDG. CONTINUED OPERATION OF A DEFECTIVE IDG CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.

NOTE: Airbus recommends that you do not do the servicing of more than one Integrated Drive Generator (IDG) at a time.

CAUTION: INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.

(a) Install all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine.

4. Procedure

A. Depressurization of the IDG Case and Draining of the IDG Oil
(1) Depressurize the IDG case and drain the oil from the IDG (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-24-680-802).

Subtask 24-21-00-020-085-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

B. Removal of the IDG Oil Charge and Scavenge Filter-Elements

IDG Oil Filter Elements ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

NOTE: This procedure is the same for the two filters.

(1) Cut and remove the lockwire from the caps (3).
(2) Make sure that the CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) is in position below the IDG filter cavity.
(3) Remove the two caps (3) and the filter elements (5).
(4) Remove and discard the two packings (4), the two packings (6) and the filter elements (5).
(5) Install the two caps (3) on the filter cavity ports.

C. Inspection of the IDG Oil Charge and Scavenge Filter-Elements
(1) Do the inspection of the IDG oil charge and scavenge filter elements (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-00-210-807).

NOTE: We recommend that you do a visual inspection of the IDG oil filter for possible contamination.

D. Lubrication of the Expendable Parts
(1) Apply P03-001lubricant, aircraft turbine engine on the two new AIPC 24-21-51-51-210 PACKINGS (6) and on the two new AIPC 24-21-51-51-190 PACKINGS (4).

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE COMPONENTS ARE IN THE CORRECT POSITION IN THE FILTER CAVITIES BEFORE YOU INSTALL THE FILTER COVERS. DO NOT TIGHTEN THE FILTER COVER SCREWS TO PUT THE FILTER COMPONENTS IN THE HOUSINGS.

E. Installation of the IDG Oil Charge and Scavenge Filter Elements

IDG Oil Filter Elements ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

NOTE: This procedure is the same for the two filter elements.

(1) Remove the caps (3).
(2) If necessary, install the new packings (6) on the new AIPC 24-21-51-51-200 FILTER ELEMENTS (5).
(3) Install the new packings (4) on the caps (3).
(4) Put the new filter elements (5) on the IDG.
(5) Install the caps (3).
(6) TORQUE the caps (3) to between 180 and 156 lbf.in (2.03 and 1.76 m.daN )

(7) Safety the caps (3) with the Lockwire (Material No.P05-289) or the Safety Cable (Material No.P05-291) and the Safety Cable Ferrule (Material No.P05-292) , if necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 70-24-00-910-811) or (Ref. AMM TASK 70-24-00-910-813).

(1) Fill the IDG with oil (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-24-612-803).
