System Test of the IDG Frequency (P/N 766219)
TASK 24-21-00-730-041-A
System Test of the IDG Frequency (P/N 766219)
Make sure that the steady-state operating frequency of the IDG is between 390 and 410 Hz.
If the frequency of the IDG is out of the specified limits, but is between 380 and 420 Hz, the display of the IDG frequency on the ECAM ELEC page becomes amber. Adjust the frequency as given in the procedure that follows.
If the frequency of the IDG is out of the limits 380 - 420 Hz, replace the IDG.

System Test of the IDG Frequency (P/N 766219)
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
1. Reason for the JobMake sure that the steady-state operating frequency of the IDG is between 390 and 410 Hz.
NOTE: The adjustment of the frequency is permitted only one time each 400FH. If you adjust the governor, make an entry in the aircraft technical logbook.

WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
CAUTION:
DO NOT ADJUST THE GOVERNOR MORE THAN 1 TIME EACH 400 FH. IF YOU ADJUST THE GOVERNOR, MAKE AN ENTRY IN THE AIRCRAFT TECHNICAL LOGBOOK.
A. Test of the IDG Frequency | ACTION | RESULT |
|---|---|
1.On the ECAM control panel:
| On the lower ECAM display unit:
NOTE: The normal operating frequency of the generator is 400 + or - 5 Hertz. |
2.Shut down the engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-018).
NOTE: One full turn of the adjustment screw changes the frequency by 3 to 3.5 Hertz. | |
| 3.Start the related engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-043) | On the lower ECAM display unit:
NOTE: If necessary, shut down the engine and repeat the adjustment procedure from step 2. |
| 4.Shut down the engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-018). | |
| 5.Safety the adjustment screw (2) with lockwire. Do this carefully not to change the setting of the adjustment screw. | |
