A. Check of the Oil Level
WARNING: WHEN YOU USE COMPRESSED AIR:
  • USE THE CORRECT PROTECTION (FACE SHIELD OR GOGGLES)
  • DO NOT POINT THE AIRFLOW AT YOURSELF OR OTHER PERSONS
  • DO NOT LET THE PRESSURE BE MORE THAN 30 PSIG (200 KPA).
LOOSE PARTICLES AND/OR HIGH PRESSURE AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY.
   (1) Make sure that no contamination prevents the correct view of the oil level at the sight glass in vertical position:
     (a) If there is contamination:
  • Clean the sight glass with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) , and

     (b) Let the IDG oil become stable for a minimum of five minutes after the engine shutdown.
NOTE: The IDG oil temperature is shown on the ECAM "ELEC SD" page. If the oil temperature is less than 49 DEG.C (120 DEG.F), the oil is cold. If the oil temperature is equal to or more than 49 DEG.C (120 DEG.F), the oil is hot.
NOTE: An internal oil consumption of 1 cc is permitted for each flight hour or when the engines are in operation.
1 If the oil is cold:
2 If the oil is hot:
  • If the oil level is in the yellow band, it is not necessary to drain the oil.
  • If the oil level is below the middle of the green band, add oil to adjust the oil level (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-24-612-804).
  • If the oil level is above the yellow band, drain the oil to adjust the oil level (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-24-680-803).
