4. Procedure
Subtask 24-21-00-210-107-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Visual Inspection
   (1) Do a visual inspection of these components:
NOTE: Do not do the visual inspection for oil leaks at the drain mast.
NOTE: There can be different signs of possible leakage:
  • Very small drops of oil
  • Wet areas around the connections
  • Oil stripes on the tubes
  • Stains or discoloration which can occur when oil or grease touches very hot surfaces.
     (a) IDG fittings for leakage:
  • The pressure fill port
  • The overflow drain port
  • The oil-inlet and oil-outlet ports (cooling circuit interface with the IDG)
  • The case drain
  • The vacuum break valve.
If you find an oil leak at:
1 The pressure fill port, replace the pressure fill valve-coupling (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-000-803) and (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-400-803).
2 The overflow drain port, replace the overflow drain valve-coupling (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-000-803) and (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-400-803).
3 The oil-inlet and oil-outlet ports (cooling circuit interface with the IDG) or the case drain, replace the related fitting.
       4 The vacuum break valve:
     (b) External oil circuit (oil lines) for leakage and correct condition:
       1 For tubing:
  • If you find cracks on the tubes, the hoses and the tube coupling nuts, replace them.
       2 For attachment:
  • Replace the broken or the cracked brackets.
  • Replace the worn clamps.
  • Install the missing nuts and the bolts.
  • Tighten the loose nuts and the bolts.
     (c) IDG fuel/oil heat-exchanger for leakage:
  • The oil-inlet and oil-outlet ports (cooling circuit interface with the fuel/oil heat-exchanger)
  • The drain plug
  • The body of the fuel/oil heat-exchanger.
If you find a leak, replace the IDG fuel/oil heat-exchanger (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-42-000-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-42-400-802).
     (d) IDG oil/oil heat-exchanger for leakage:
  • The oil-inlet and oil-outlet ports (cooling circuit interface with the oil/oil heat-exchanger)
  • The drain plug
  • The body of the oil/oil heat-exchanger.
If you find a leak, replace the IDG oil/oil heat-exchanger (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-42-000-803) and (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-42-400-803).
   (2) If you find components wet with oil, make sure that you find and correct all the causes.
If necessary, fill the IDG with oil (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-24-612-803).
