Check Torque of Quick-Attach-Detach (QAD) Tension Bolt
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

To do a torque check of the IDG QAD adapter tension-bolt without component removal.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that engine 1(2) shutdown occurs at a minimum of five minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 24-21-00-010-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that engine 1(2) shutdown occurs at a minimum of five minutes before you do this procedure.

A. Removal of the Lockwire
Subtask 24-21-00-640-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(1) Cut and remove the lockwire from the tension bolt (2). B. Lubrication of the QAD Adapter Tension-Bolt
(1) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Oily Film System (Material No.12ABE2) on the mating surface between the QAD ring (3) and the QAD adapter plate (1) with a spray (in the zone where you can get access).
(2) Lubricate the tension bolt (2) with the Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine - - (Material No.03ABA1) .
Subtask 24-21-00-220-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Oily Film System (Material No.12ABE2) on the mating surface between the QAD ring (3) and the QAD adapter plate (1) with a spray (in the zone where you can get access).
(2) Lubricate the tension bolt (2) with the Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine - - (Material No.03ABA1) .
C. Torque Check of the QAD Adapter Tension-Bolt
(a) If the torque on the tension bolt (2) of the QAD adapter is less than 22 lbf.ft (2.98 m.daN), adjust the QAD ring (3).
(b) To do this, tap the edge of the QAD ring (3) that you can see with a brass drift to make sure that the torque values you measure are correct, TORQUE the tension bolt (2) to between 26 and 22 lbf.ft (3.53 and 2.98 m.daN )
.
(2) Lightly shake the antidrive end of the IDG to make sure that the QAD adapter is correctly connected.
(a) If the IDG is loose, replace the IDG mounting flange (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-000-040) and (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-400-040) or (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-400-040) as applicable and the QAD adapter (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-41-000-040) and (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-41-400-040) or (Ref. AMM D/O 24-21-41-40), as applicable.
(b) If the IDG is not loose, continue this procedure.
(3) Tap the edge of the QAD ring (3) again and do the torque check again until the torque value does not decrease by more than 24 lbf.in (0.27 m.daN).
(4) Do a check of the distance between the ring lug and the bracket of the QAD ring.
(a) If the distance is less than 0.56 in. (14.22 mm):
1 Replace the IDG (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-000-040) and (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-400-040) or (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-400-040) but keep the IDG accessory hoist installed, and do not attach tubes, harnesses and other components.
2 Measure the distance again:
a If the distance is correct:
1 Safety the QAD coupling withCP8002 lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia (Ref. AMM TASK 70-22-00-911-001) or (Ref. AMM D/O 70-22-00-91)
Subtask 24-21-00-220-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:

(1) Measure the torque value on the tension bolt (2).(a) If the torque on the tension bolt (2) of the QAD adapter is less than 22 lbf.ft (2.98 m.daN), adjust the QAD ring (3).
(b) To do this, tap the edge of the QAD ring (3) that you can see with a brass drift to make sure that the torque values you measure are correct, TORQUE the tension bolt (2) to between 26 and 22 lbf.ft (3.53 and 2.98 m.daN )
.(2) Lightly shake the antidrive end of the IDG to make sure that the QAD adapter is correctly connected.
(a) If the IDG is loose, replace the IDG mounting flange (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-000-040) and (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-400-040) or (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-400-040) as applicable and the QAD adapter (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-41-000-040) and (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-41-400-040) or (Ref. AMM D/O 24-21-41-40), as applicable.
(b) If the IDG is not loose, continue this procedure.
(3) Tap the edge of the QAD ring (3) again and do the torque check again until the torque value does not decrease by more than 24 lbf.in (0.27 m.daN).
(4) Do a check of the distance between the ring lug and the bracket of the QAD ring.
(a) If the distance is less than 0.56 in. (14.22 mm):
1 Replace the IDG (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-000-040) and (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-400-040) or (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-400-040) but keep the IDG accessory hoist installed, and do not attach tubes, harnesses and other components.
2 Measure the distance again:
a If the distance is correct:
- Safety the QAD coupling with
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-22-00-911-001) or (Ref. AMM D/O 70-22-00-91) and remove the IDG accessory hoist, the attaching components, the tube and the harnesses.CP8002 lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia
NOTE: When you send the worn IDG that you removed to the work shop, it is mandatory that they replace the input flange.
b If the distance is not correct:- Remove the new IDG (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-000-040) to replace the QAD adapter (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-41-000-040) and (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-41-400-040) or (Ref. AMM D/O 24-21-41-40).

C. Check of the Torque Value of the Tension Bolt
(a) If the torque value of the tension bolt (2) of the QAD adapter is less than 264 lbf.in (2.98 m.daN), adjust the QAD ring (3). To do this, tap the edge of the QAD ring (3) that you can see with a brass drift to make sure that the torque value you measure is correct.
(b) TORQUE the tension bolt (2) to between 312 and 264 lbf.in (3.53 and 2.98 m.daN )

(2) Lightly shake the antidrive end of the IDG to make sure that the QAD adapter is correctly connected.
(a) If the IDG is loose:
(3) Tap again the edge of the QAD ring (3) and do a check of the torque value until the torque value does not decrease by more than 24 lbf.in (0.27 m.daN).
(4) Do a check of the distance between the ring lug and the bracket of the QAD adapter.
(a) If the distance is less than 0.312 in. (7.925 mm):
1 Replace the IDG, but keep the IDG accessory hoist installed and do not attach tubes, harnesses or other components (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-000-040) and (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-400-040).
2 Measure the distance again:
a If the distance is correct:
1 Safety the tension bolt (2) with theCP8002 lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia (Ref. AMM TASK 70-22-00-911-002).
5. Close-upWARNING:

(1) Measure the torque value of the tension bolt (2): (a) If the torque value of the tension bolt (2) of the QAD adapter is less than 264 lbf.in (2.98 m.daN), adjust the QAD ring (3). To do this, tap the edge of the QAD ring (3) that you can see with a brass drift to make sure that the torque value you measure is correct.
(b) TORQUE the tension bolt (2) to between 312 and 264 lbf.in (3.53 and 2.98 m.daN )
. (2) Lightly shake the antidrive end of the IDG to make sure that the QAD adapter is correctly connected.
(a) If the IDG is loose:
- Remove the IDG (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-000-040).
- Send the IDG to the workshop to replace the mounting flange.
- Install the IDG (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-400-040).
- Replace the QAD adapter (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-41-000-040) and (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-41-400-043).
(3) Tap again the edge of the QAD ring (3) and do a check of the torque value until the torque value does not decrease by more than 24 lbf.in (0.27 m.daN).
(4) Do a check of the distance between the ring lug and the bracket of the QAD adapter.
(a) If the distance is less than 0.312 in. (7.925 mm):
1 Replace the IDG, but keep the IDG accessory hoist installed and do not attach tubes, harnesses or other components (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-000-040) and (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-400-040).
2 Measure the distance again:
a If the distance is correct:
- Safety the tension bolt (2) with the
and remove the IDG accessory hoist, IDG attached components, tubes and harnesses (Ref. AMM TASK 70-22-00-911-002).CP8002 lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia - Send the worn IDG that you removed to the workshop. After you do this, it is mandatory to replace the input flange.
- Remove the new IDG (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-000-040).
- Replace the QAD adapter (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-41-000-040) and (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-41-400-043).

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the right fan cowl door (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-040):
(a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)
(b) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the right fan cowl door (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-040):

(b) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
