Removal of the Handset Coiled Cord
WARNING:
BEFORE YOU REMOVE THIS EQUIPMENT, MAKE SURE THAT THE SYSTEM IS DE-ENERGIZED. IF YOU REMOVE THIS EQUIPMENT WHILE THE SYSTEM IS ENERGIZED, YOU CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE SYSTEM.
CAUTION:
OBEY THE ELECTROSTATIC-DISCHARGE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE ON OR NEAR DEVICES THAT ARE SENSITIVE TO ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE PRECAUTIONS, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL NOT TO TOUCH THE CONNECTOR PINS BECAUSE ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO INTERNAL COMPONENTS.
NOTE: The procedure for the cockpit handset coiled cord is the same as the procedure for the cabin handset coiled cord.
NOTE: The handset cradles have a handset cradle cover and a handset cradle mounting.

A. Remove the Handset Coiled Cord
(1) Remove the handset cradle cover (4):
(b) Remove the screws (3) and the washers (4).
(c) Remove the handset cradle cover (18).
(2) Remove the handset coiled cord (2) from the handset cradle mounting (16):
(a) Cut and discard the cable ties (13).
(b) Carefully pull the connector (15) out of the socket (17) on the printed circuit board.
(c) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(d) Lift the strain relief (11) out of the groove (12).
(e) Carefully twist the handset coiled cord (2) and remove it from the locking hooks (14).
(3) Remove the handset coiled cord (2) from the handset (1):
(a) Remove the screw (10) from the handset (1).
(b) Pull out the cable support (9).
(c) Pull at the hook of the connector (7) to disconnect it from the socket (5).
(d) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(e) Lift the strain relief (8) out of the groove (6) and remove the handset coiled cord (2).
(1) Remove the handset cradle cover (4):
NOTE: The following steps are only necessary, if the handset stays installed in the cabin.
(a) Lift the handset (1) from the handset cradle cover (18). (b) Remove the screws (3) and the washers (4).
(c) Remove the handset cradle cover (18).
(2) Remove the handset coiled cord (2) from the handset cradle mounting (16):
(a) Cut and discard the cable ties (13).
(b) Carefully pull the connector (15) out of the socket (17) on the printed circuit board.
(c) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(d) Lift the strain relief (11) out of the groove (12).
(e) Carefully twist the handset coiled cord (2) and remove it from the locking hooks (14).
(3) Remove the handset coiled cord (2) from the handset (1):
(a) Remove the screw (10) from the handset (1).
(b) Pull out the cable support (9).
(c) Pull at the hook of the connector (7) to disconnect it from the socket (5).
(d) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(e) Lift the strain relief (8) out of the groove (6) and remove the handset coiled cord (2).
