Removal of the Static Discharger Retainer

C. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 12M (40 FT) - ADJUSTABLE below the applicable static discharger.
(2) Remove the applicable static discharger (Ref. AMM TASK 23-61-41-000-001).
4. Procedure(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 12M (40 FT) - ADJUSTABLE below the applicable static discharger.
(2) Remove the applicable static discharger (Ref. AMM TASK 23-61-41-000-001).
Subtask 23-61-42-020-051-A
A. Removal of the Static Discharger Retainers from Zones 324 (Vertical Stabilizer Tip), 326 (Rudder) and 330 (340) (Trimmable Horizontal Stabilizer (THS))
(1) Remove the sealant with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC from the rivets, static discharger retainers and supports, as applicable:
(a) For the static discharger retainers installed on the vertical stabilizer:
1 On the vertical stabilizer tip, remove the sealant from:
1 On the elevator, remove the sealant from:
1 Remove the rivets (4) from the vertical stabilizer tip.
2 Remove the rivets (2) from the rudder trailing edge.
3 Remove the rudder tip (Ref. AMM TASK 55-44-11-000-001).
4 Remove the rivets (4) from the rudder tip.
(b) For the static discharger retainers installed on the THS:
1 Remove the rivets (11), (12), (14), (16) and (17) from the elevator.
2 Remove the rivets (6) and (8) from the THS tip.
(3) Remove the static discharger retainers and supports as applicable:
(a) For the static discharger retainers installed on the vertical stabilizer:
1 Remove the retainer (3) from the vertical stabilizer tip.
2 Remove the retainer (1) from the rudder trailing edge.
3 Remove the retainer (3) from the rudder tip.
(b) For the static discharger retainers installed on the THS:
1 Remove the retainer (15) and the shim (18) from the trailing edge of the elevator.
2 Remove the retainer (13) from the trailing edge of the elevator.
3 Remove the retainer (10) and the adapter (9) from the elevator tip.
4 Remove the retainer (7) and the adapter (5) from the THS tip.
Subtask 23-61-42-020-052-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the sealant with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC from the rivets, static discharger retainers and supports, as applicable:
(a) For the static discharger retainers installed on the vertical stabilizer:
1 On the vertical stabilizer tip, remove the sealant from:
- The rivets (4)
- Around the retainer (3).
- The rivets (2) and (4)
- Around the retainers (1) and (3).
1 On the elevator, remove the sealant from:
- The rivets (11), (12), (14), (16) and (17)
- Around the retainers (10), (13) and (15) and the adapter (9).
- The rivets (6) and (8)
- Around the retainer (7) and the adapter (5).
CAUTION:
WHEN YOU REMOVE THE RIVETS, BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE THE RIVET HOLES TO BECOME TOO LARGE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS PRECAUTION, IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO DO A REPAIR OF THE APPLICABLE ZONE BEFORE YOU INSTALL NEW RIVETS.
(a) For the static discharger retainers installed on the vertical stabilizer: 1 Remove the rivets (4) from the vertical stabilizer tip.
2 Remove the rivets (2) from the rudder trailing edge.
3 Remove the rudder tip (Ref. AMM TASK 55-44-11-000-001).
4 Remove the rivets (4) from the rudder tip.
(b) For the static discharger retainers installed on the THS:
1 Remove the rivets (11), (12), (14), (16) and (17) from the elevator.
2 Remove the rivets (6) and (8) from the THS tip.
(3) Remove the static discharger retainers and supports as applicable:
(a) For the static discharger retainers installed on the vertical stabilizer:
1 Remove the retainer (3) from the vertical stabilizer tip.
2 Remove the retainer (1) from the rudder trailing edge.
3 Remove the retainer (3) from the rudder tip.
(b) For the static discharger retainers installed on the THS:
1 Remove the retainer (15) and the shim (18) from the trailing edge of the elevator.
2 Remove the retainer (13) from the trailing edge of the elevator.
3 Remove the retainer (10) and the adapter (9) from the elevator tip.
4 Remove the retainer (7) and the adapter (5) from the THS tip.
B. Removal of the Static Discharger Retainers from Zones 470 (480) (Engine Pylon), 531 (631), 532 (632) and 533 (633) (Flap Track Fairings)
(1) Remove the sealant with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC from the rivets and the static discharger retainers as applicable:
(a) For the static discharger retainers installed on the flap-track fairing 2, flap-track fairing 3 and flap-track fairing 4:
1 Remove the sealant from:

1 Remove the top cover (1) from the flap track fairing (Ref. AMM TASK 57-55-11-000-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 57-55-11-000-004).
2 Remove the nut (5), washer (6), bolt (8) and disconnect the bonding lead (7) from the plate (9).
3 Remove the rivets (2) and (3) from the flap track fairing.
(b) For the static discharger retainer installed on the engine pylon, remove the rivets (11).
(3) Remove the static discharger retainers and supports as applicable:
(a) For the static discharger retainers installed on flap-track fairing 2, flap-track fairing 3 and flap-track fairing 4:
1 Remove the retainer (4).
2 Remove the plate (9).
(b) For the static discharger retainer on the engine pylon, remove the retainer (10).
Subtask 23-61-42-020-052-D ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the sealant with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC from the rivets and the static discharger retainers as applicable:
(a) For the static discharger retainers installed on the flap-track fairing 2, flap-track fairing 3 and flap-track fairing 4:
1 Remove the sealant from:
- The rivets (2) and (3)
- Around the retainer (4).
1 Remove the sealant from:
- The rivets (11)
- Around the retainer (10).
CAUTION:
WHEN YOU REMOVE THE RIVETS, BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE THE RIVET HOLES TO BECOME TOO LARGE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS PRECAUTION, IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO DO A REPAIR OF THE APPLICABLE ZONE BEFORE YOU INSTALL NEW RIVETS.
(a) For the static discharger retainers installed on flap-track fairing 2, flap-track fairing 3 and flap-track fairing 4: 1 Remove the top cover (1) from the flap track fairing (Ref. AMM TASK 57-55-11-000-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 57-55-11-000-004).
2 Remove the nut (5), washer (6), bolt (8) and disconnect the bonding lead (7) from the plate (9).
3 Remove the rivets (2) and (3) from the flap track fairing.
(b) For the static discharger retainer installed on the engine pylon, remove the rivets (11).
(3) Remove the static discharger retainers and supports as applicable:
(a) For the static discharger retainers installed on flap-track fairing 2, flap-track fairing 3 and flap-track fairing 4:
1 Remove the retainer (4).
2 Remove the plate (9).
(b) For the static discharger retainer on the engine pylon, remove the retainer (10).
B. Removal of the Static Discharger Retainers from Zones 531 (631), 532 (632) and 533 (633) (Flap Track Fairings)
(1) Remove the sealant with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC from the rivets and the static discharger retainers as applicable:
(a) For the static discharger retainers installed on flap-track fairing 2, flap-track fairing 3 and flap track fairing 4:
1 Remove the sealant from:
1 Remove the top cover (1) from the flap track fairing (Ref. AMM TASK 57-55-11-000-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 57-55-11-000-004).
2 Remove the nut (5), washer (6), bolt (8) and disconnect the bonding lead (7) from the plate (9).
3 Remove the rivets (2) and (3) from the flap track fairing.
(3) Remove the static discharger retainers and supports as applicable:
(a) For the static discharger retainers installed on flap-track fairing 2, flap-track fairing 3 and flap-track fairing 4:
1 Remove the retainer (4).
2 Remove the plate (9).
Subtask 23-61-42-020-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the sealant with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC from the rivets and the static discharger retainers as applicable:
(a) For the static discharger retainers installed on flap-track fairing 2, flap-track fairing 3 and flap track fairing 4:
1 Remove the sealant from:
- The rivets (2) and (3)
- Around the retainer (4).
CAUTION:
WHEN YOU REMOVE THE RIVETS, BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE THE RIVET HOLES TO BECOME TOO LARGE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS PRECAUTION, IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO DO A REPAIR OF THE APPLICABLE ZONE BEFORE YOU INSTALL NEW RIVETS.
(a) For the static discharger retainers installed on flap-track fairing 2, flap-track fairing 3 and flap-track fairing 4: 1 Remove the top cover (1) from the flap track fairing (Ref. AMM TASK 57-55-11-000-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 57-55-11-000-004).
2 Remove the nut (5), washer (6), bolt (8) and disconnect the bonding lead (7) from the plate (9).
3 Remove the rivets (2) and (3) from the flap track fairing.
(3) Remove the static discharger retainers and supports as applicable:
(a) For the static discharger retainers installed on flap-track fairing 2, flap-track fairing 3 and flap-track fairing 4:
1 Remove the retainer (4).
2 Remove the plate (9).
C. Removal of the Static Discharger Retainers from Zone 590 (690) (Ailerons)
(1) Remove the sealant with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC from:
(3) Remove the retainer (10), then remove and discard washer (9).
(4) Remove the retainer (14), then remove and discard washers (13).
Subtask 23-61-42-020-053-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the sealant with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC from:
- The rivets (7), (8), (11) and (12)
- Around the retainers (10) and (14).
CAUTION:
WHEN YOU REMOVE THE RIVETS, BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE THE RIVET HOLES TO BECOME TOO LARGE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS PRECAUTION, IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO DO A REPAIR OF THE APPLICABLE ZONE BEFORE YOU INSTALL NEW RIVETS.
(a) Remove the rivets (7), (8), (11) and (12). (3) Remove the retainer (10), then remove and discard washer (9).
(4) Remove the retainer (14), then remove and discard washers (13).
C. Removal of the Static Discharger Retainers from Zone 590 (690) (Ailerons)
(1) Remove the sealant with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC from:

- The rivets (1) and (3)
- Around the retainer (2).

WHEN YOU REMOVE THE RIVETS, BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE THE RIVET HOLES TO BECOME TOO LARGE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS PRECAUTION, IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO DO A REPAIR OF THE APPLICABLE ZONE BEFORE YOU INSTALL NEW RIVETS.
(a) Remove the rivets (1) and (3). (3) Remove the retainer (2) from the aileron.
D. Removal of the Static Discharger Retainers from Zone 534 (634) (Wing-Tip)
(1) Remove the sealant with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC from:
(3) Remove the retainer (2).
Subtask 23-61-42-020-055-D ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the sealant with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC from:
- The rivets (1) and (3)
- Around the retainer (2).
CAUTION:
WHEN YOU REMOVE THE RIVETS, BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE THE RIVET HOLES TO BECOME TOO LARGE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS PRECAUTION, IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO DO A REPAIR OF THE APPLICABLE ZONE BEFORE YOU INSTALL NEW RIVETS.
(a) Remove the rivets (1) and (3). (3) Remove the retainer (2).
E. Removal of the Static Discharger Retainers from Zone 534 (634) (Wing-Tip Fence)
(1) If necessary, remove the sealant with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC from:
(3) Remove the retainers (3), (5) and (9), and the packers (4) and (7).

- The rivets (1), (2), (6) and (8)
- Around the retainers (3), (5) and (9), and the packers (4) and (7).

WHEN YOU REMOVE THE RIVETS, BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE THE RIVET HOLES TO BECOME TOO LARGE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS PRECAUTION, IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO DO A REPAIR OF THE APPLICABLE ZONE BEFORE YOU INSTALL NEW RIVETS.
(a) Remove the rivets (1), (2), (6) and (8). (3) Remove the retainers (3), (5) and (9), and the packers (4) and (7).
E. Removal of the Static Discharger Retainers from Zone 534 (634) (Wing-Tip Fence)
(1) If necessary, remove the sealant with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC from:
(3) Remove the retainers (2), (5) and (7), and the packer (3).

- The rivets (1), (4) and (6)
- Around the retainers (2), (5) and (7), and the packer (3).

WHEN YOU REMOVE THE RIVETS, BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE THE RIVET HOLES TO BECOME TOO LARGE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS PRECAUTION, IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO DO A REPAIR OF THE APPLICABLE ZONE BEFORE YOU INSTALL NEW RIVETS.
(a) Remove the rivets (1), (4) and (6). (3) Remove the retainers (2), (5) and (7), and the packer (3).
F. Removal of the Static Discharger Retainers from Zone 534 (634) (Sharklet)
(1) If necessary, remove the sealant with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC from the rivets and around the static discharger retainers.
(2) For the applicable static discharger retainer(s), remove the rivets SRM 514211.
(b) Remove the rivets (3), (4), (5) and (6) from the retainer (7).
(c) Remove the rivets (8), (9) and (10) from the retainer (11).
(d) Remove the rivets (12), (13), (14), (15) and (16) from the retainer (17).
(e) Remove the rivets (18), (19), (20) and (21) from the retainer (22).
(3) Remove the retainers (2), (7), (11), (17) and (22).
(1) If necessary, remove the sealant with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC from the rivets and around the static discharger retainers.
(2) For the applicable static discharger retainer(s), remove the rivets SRM 514211.
CAUTION:
WHEN YOU REMOVE THE RIVETS, BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE THE RIVET HOLES TO BECOME TOO LARGE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS PRECAUTION, IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO DO A REPAIR OF THE APPLICABLE ZONE BEFORE YOU INSTALL NEW RIVETS.
(a) Remove the rivets (1) from the retainer (2). (b) Remove the rivets (3), (4), (5) and (6) from the retainer (7).
(c) Remove the rivets (8), (9) and (10) from the retainer (11).
(d) Remove the rivets (12), (13), (14), (15) and (16) from the retainer (17).
(e) Remove the rivets (18), (19), (20) and (21) from the retainer (22).
(3) Remove the retainers (2), (7), (11), (17) and (22).
