Deactivation of the Radio Push-to-Talk (PTT) Switch
WARNING:

CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE ITEMS IN THE "FIXTURES, TOOLS, TEST AND SUPPORT EQUIPMENT" PARAGRAPH ARE APPLICABLE TO YOUR AIRCRAFT (THIS LIST IS NOT CUSTOMIZED). REFER TO THE APPLICABLE SUBTASKS.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE SIDE-STICK UNIT STAYS IN VERTICAL POSITION DURING THE MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE.
THIS IS TO PREVENT DAMPER FLUID LEAKAGE WHICH CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE UNIT.
NOTE: This task is applicable for all side-stick assemblies. To know if the side-stick assembly installed on the aircraft is a new-generation side-stick unit, refer to the procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 27-92-41-860-801).

A. Disengagement of the Radio PTT Switch (11RN, 12RN)
(1) Remove the screws (5).
(2) Remove the cover plate (4).
(3) Remove the blanking plug (6), the nut (7), the washer (8)
(4) Remove the screw (12) and the trigger (9).
(5) Remove the nut (10), the washer (11), the switch (1) with the nut (2) and the lock plate (3).
Subtask 23-51-00-010-056-A (1) Remove the screws (5).
(2) Remove the cover plate (4).
(3) Remove the blanking plug (6), the nut (7), the washer (8)
(4) Remove the screw (12) and the trigger (9).
(5) Remove the nut (10), the washer (11), the switch (1) with the nut (2) and the lock plate (3).
B. Disengagement of the radio Push-to-Talk (PTT) switch (11RN, 12RN) of the new-generation side-stick unit (100CE1, 100CE2)
(1) Remove the screws (1).
(2) Remove the cover plate or the tactile indicator (2) according to the Side-Stick Unit (SSU) option.
(3) Remove the seal (3).
Subtask 23-51-00-040-050-A (1) Remove the screws (1).
(2) Remove the cover plate or the tactile indicator (2) according to the Side-Stick Unit (SSU) option.
(3) Remove the seal (3).
C. Deactivation of the Radio PTT Switch (11RN, 12RN)
(a) If there are splices (13) installed:
1 Cut the wires of the PTT switch as follows:
a Before you cut the wires, make sure that the two identification-labels stay on the wires, on the control-handle side.
b On the two wires, measure 40mm distance "A" from the studs of the PTT switch and make mark on each wire.
c Cut the two wires at these marks.
d Install CAP - WIRE END at the end of each wire ESPM 2042130.
Subtask 23-51-00-410-051-A NOTE: Go directly to the paragraph E. for the deactivation of the radio Push-to-Talk (PTT) switch of the new-generation side-stick unit.
(1) Do a visual check of the PTT switch wires to see if there are splices (13) already installed: (a) If there are splices (13) installed:
- Use the extraction/insertion tool P/N M81969/14.01 from the DMC519 ELECTRICIAN SERVICE TOOL KIT to disconnect the PTT switch wires from the splices (13) ESPM 2043130.
1 Cut the wires of the PTT switch as follows:
a Before you cut the wires, make sure that the two identification-labels stay on the wires, on the control-handle side.
b On the two wires, measure 40mm distance "A" from the studs of the PTT switch and make mark on each wire.
c Cut the two wires at these marks.
d Install CAP - WIRE END at the end of each wire ESPM 2042130.
D. Engagement of the Radio PTT Switch (11RN,12RN)
(1) Install the nut (2) and the lock plate (3) in the switch (1).
(2) Install the switch (1) in the handle.
(3) Make sure that the stop of the lock plate (3) is in its housing.
(4) Install the washer (11), the nut (10) and tighten it.
(5) Install the trigger (9) with the screw (12).
(6) Install the washer (8) and the nut (7).

(8) Install the blanking plug (6).
(9) Install the cover plate (4).
(10) Install the screws (5) and tighten.
Subtask 23-51-00-040-053-A (1) Install the nut (2) and the lock plate (3) in the switch (1).
(2) Install the switch (1) in the handle.
(3) Make sure that the stop of the lock plate (3) is in its housing.
(4) Install the washer (11), the nut (10) and tighten it.
(5) Install the trigger (9) with the screw (12).
(6) Install the washer (8) and the nut (7).
CAUTION:
OBEY THE TORQUE VALUES SPECIFIED BELOW.
(7) TORQUE the nut (7) to between 0.0385 and 0.0315 m.daN (3.41 and 2.79 lbf.in )
. (8) Install the blanking plug (6).
(9) Install the cover plate (4).
(10) Install the screws (5) and tighten.
E. Deactivation of the radio Push-to-Talk (PTT) switch (11RN, 12RN) of the new-generation side-stick unit (100CE1, 100CE2)
(1) Pull the two PTT switch wires (green and brown) (4) through the access hole.
(2) Cut the power supply wires.
(3) Install end caps at the end of each wire ESPM 2042130 connected to the handle connector.

(1) Install the seal (3) and the cover plate or tactile indicator (2).
(2) Install the screws (1) and tighten them to between 0.18 and 0.15 m.daN (15.93 and 13.27 lbf.in )

(1) Install the seal (3) and the cover plate or tactile indicator (2).
(2) Install the screws (1) and tighten them to between 0.18 and 0.15 m.daN (15.93 and 13.27 lbf.in )

H. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Do the EIS start procedure (upper ECAM DU and lower ECAM DU only)
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001).
(2) Do the IR alignment procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 34-10-00-860-004).
(3) On the overhead panel 23VU:

(2) Do the IR alignment procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 34-10-00-860-004).
(3) On the overhead panel 23VU:
- make sure that the FLT CTL/ELAC 1 and FLT CTL/SEC 1 pushbutton switches are pushed (On these pushbutton switches, the OFF and FAULT legends are off).
- make sure that the FLT CTL/ELAC 2, FLT CTL/SEC 2 and FLT CTL/SEC 3 pushbutton switches are pushed (On these pushbutton switches, the OFF and FAULT legends are off).
- HF1 (2) EMITTING
- VHF1 (2) (3) EMITTING
- ELAC 1 FAULT
- ELAC 2 FAULT
- SINGLE PTT STUCK
NOTE: If one of these warnings shows, do the trouble shooting procedure related to the maintenance message.
I. Operational Tests:
(1) Do the Operational test of the Side Stick Priority (Ref. AMM TASK 27-96-00-710-003).
(2) Do the Operational test of the Side Stick Assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 27-96-00-710-020).
5. Close-up(1) Do the Operational test of the Side Stick Priority (Ref. AMM TASK 27-96-00-710-003).
(2) Do the Operational test of the Side Stick Assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 27-96-00-710-020).
Subtask 23-51-00-860-059-A
A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
(1) Do the EIS stop procedure
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-002).
(2) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) on the cover panel of the side stick assembly to tell the crew that the radio PTT switch is deactivated.
(3) Make an entry in the logbook.
(4) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
(1) Do the EIS stop procedure
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-002).
(2) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) on the cover panel of the side stick assembly to tell the crew that the radio PTT switch is deactivated.
(3) Make an entry in the logbook.
(4) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
