Installation of the Maintenance Interphone Jack

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) On the panel 115VU:
  • Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine 1(2) is in position.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) has been shutdown for at least 5 minutes.
   (3) On the panel 50VU:
  • Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR 1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
  • Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is installed.

4. Procedure

A. Installation of the Maintenance Interphone Jack
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.

   (3) Remove the protective covers from the interphone jack (30) and the insulations from the wires.
   (4) Connect the electrical wires to the interphone jack (30). Attach the wires with the screws (80), washers (75), lockwashers (70), and nuts (65).
   (5) TORQUE the nuts (65) to between 0.23 and 0.17 m.daN (20.35 and 15.04 lbf.in ) T.
NOTE: The RED wire goes to the RING. The YELLOW wire goes to the TIP. The BLUE wire goes to the SLEEVE.
   (6) Prepare the interphone jack, its mounting nut, the coupling nut and the shell for installation.
     (a) Clean the threads of the coupling nut (5), the shell (25), the interphone jack (30) and the nut (45) with isopropyl alcohol (Material No.
CP1041) or acetone (Material No.CP1039) or stoddard solvent (Material No.CP2011) or ardrox 552 (Material No.CP2559) or turco ind 79 (Material No.CP2560) or mag-chem teksol (Material No.CP2566) or degreasol 99 R (Material No.CP2584) or CP 2656Mag-Chem Skysol .
     (b) Clean the threads with Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) before the alcohol becomes a gaz.
     (c) Put one drop of thread locker Locktite 242 (Material No.CP2269) on the threads of the coupling nut (5) and the nut (45).
     (d) Make sure the slot in the shell (25) and the slot in the mounting plate (35) are aligned with the drain hole in the access plate (60) to let the water go out.
   (7) Attach the interphone jack (30) to the mounting plate (35) with the washer (40) and the nut (45).
   (8) TORQUE the nut (45) to between 0.40 and 0.34 m.daN (35.40 and 30.09 lbf.in ) T
   (9) Move the shell (25) along the jack (30) until the shell touches the mounting plate (35).
   (10) Put the retainer assembly (20) on the shell (25).
   (11) Move the two pressure plates (10) and the gland (15) until they touch the shell (25).
   (12) Move the coupling nut (5) along the harness until it touches the shell (25). Tighten the coupling nut (5) with your hand plus one-eighth of a turn.
   (13) Make sure that the electrical wires are tight and do not twist when you tighten the coupling nut.

   (14) Make sure that the slot in the shell (25) and the slot in the mounting plate (35) are aligned with the drain hole in the access plate (60) to let the water go out.
   (15) Put the shell (25) and the mounting plate (20) in position on the cover (60) and install the screws (50).
   (16) TORQUE the screws (50) to between 0.17 and 0.14 m.daN (15.04 and 12.39 lbf.in )

   (17) Put the cover (60) in position on the air intake cowl and attach it with the screws (55).
   (18) TORQUE the screws (55) to between 0.28 and 0.23 m.daN (24.78 and 20.35 lbf.in )

   (19) Install the screws (50) that hold the shell (25), mounting plate (35) and retainer (20) on the air intake-cowl outer-barrel.
   (20) TORQUE the screws (50) to between 0.17 and 0.14 m.daN (15.04 and 12.39 lbf.in )

   (21) Remove the COVER - PROTECTION from the interphone jack harness assembly (80) and the ground jack (100).
   (22) Prepare the interphone jack harness assembly (80), the ground jack (100), its mounting nuts for installation.
     (a) Clean the threads of the interphone jack harness assembly (80), the threads of the ground jack (100) and the nuts (45) and (85) with isopropyl alcohol (Material No.
CP1041) or acetone (Material No.CP1039) or stoddard solvent (Material No.CP2011) or ardrox 552 (Material No.CP2559) or turco ind 79 (Material No.CP2560) or mag-chem teksol (Material No.CP2566) or degreasol 99 R (Material No.CP2584) or CP 2656Mag-Chem Skysol .
     (b) Clean the threads with Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) before the alcohol becomes a gaz.
     (c) Put one drop of thread locker Locktite 242 (Material No.CP2269) on the threads of the nuts (45) and (85).
   (23) Install the interphone jack harness assembly (80) into the retainer (55).
   (24) Attach the retainer (55) and interphone jack harness assembly (80) to the mounting plate (35) with the lockwasher (40) and the nut (45).
   (25) TORQUE the nut (45) to between 35.39 and 30.08 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.34 m.daN ) T.
   (26) Install the screws (50) that hold the mounting plate (35), and the retainer (55) on the air intake-cowl.
   (27) TORQUE the screws (50) to between 9.73 and 7.96 lbf.in (0.11 and 0.09 m.daN )
T.
   (28) Put the ground wire (95) on the thread of the ground jack (100).
   (29) Install the ground jack (100) on the support plate (120) with the washers (90) and the nut (85).
   (30) TORQUE the nut (85) to between 35 and 30 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.34 m.daN )
T.
   (31) Install the support plate (120) on the air intake cowl with the screws (115).
   (32) TORQUE the screws (115) to between 25 and 20 lbf.in (0.28 and 0.23 m.daN )
T.
   (33) Install the connector of the interphone jack harness assembly (80) on the air intake-cowl with the bolts (10), washers (15) and nuts (20).
   (34) Attach the interphone jack harness assembly (80) to the flip lock clamp (30).
   (35) Install the bolt (75) with the washers (65) and (70) and the nut (60) into the flip lock clamp (30).
   (36) Tighten the bolt (75) until the spring is fully compressed against the clamp band and the 0.0625 in. (1.5875 mm) clearance is fully closed.

   (37) Install the screws (105) and (110) that attach the anti-ice vent panel to the air intake-cowl.

A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Remove the warning notices.
