A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position below access door 824.
   (3) Make sure that access door 824 is open.

B. Make sure that this(these) circuit breaker(s) is(are) open, safetied and tagged:

4. Procedure
Subtask 23-28-34-420-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the LEO SDU
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
   (4) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
   (5) Install the SDU (1) on its rack (3).
   (6) Push the SDU (1) on its rack (3) and connect the electrical connectors (2).
   (7) Engage the nut (4) on the lug (5) and tighten it.

B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

   (1) Do the BITE test of the SATCOM system (Ref. AMM TASK 23-28-00-740-001).

E. Activation of the Data Modulator-Demodulator (Modem) International Mobile-Equipment Identifier, if necessary.
   (1) On the MCDU, get access to the "SATCOM CONFIG" page.
ACTION
RESULT
1.On the MCDU main menu:
  • Push the line select key adjacent to the "SAT" indication.
On the MCDU:
  • The "SATCOM MAIN MENU" page comes into view.
  • Push the line select key adjacent to the "SATCOM STATUS" indication.
  • The "SATCOM STATUS" page comes into view.
  • Push the line select key adjacent to the "CONFIG" indication.
  • The "SATCOM CONFIG" page comes into view.
   (2) Do a check of the data-Modem international mobile-equipment identifier.
   (3) To operate the data-Modem international mobile-equipment identifier of the SDU, speak to the service provider.
NOTE: When the customer's service provider records the data-Modem international mobile-equipment-identifier of the SDU, it authenticates it on the iridium network and can then send Aircraft Communication Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) messages.

F. SATCOM Link Test of the Air Traffic Service Unit (ATSU)
   (1) If the SATCOM is correctly installed and the service provider operated it, do the SATCOM link test of the ATSU (Ref. AMM TASK 46-21-00-710-005).

A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close access door 824.
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).

B. De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
