REMOVE AND RESTORE TRIM AIR PRESSURE REGULATING VALVE FILTER
For the trim-air pressure regulating-valve with part number 746A0000-04/-05, you can replace the filter if it does not agree with the manufacturer's requirements.
NOTE: This procedure is not applicable for the trim-air pressure regulating-valve part number for 70853A010001.

C. Get Access
   (1) Open forward (FWD) cargo-compartment door 825 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position at FWD cargo-compartment door 825.
   (3) Remove the access panels at partition FR34 (Ref. AMM D/O 06-41-53-00) and (Ref. AMM TASK 25-54-12-000-001).

D. Safety Precautions
   (1) In the cockpit, on the overhead panel, on AIR COND panel 30VU make sure that:
  • The APU BLEED pushbutton switch is in the OFF position (the ON legend is off)
  • The ENG 1 BLEED and ENG 2 BLEED pushbutton switches are in the OFF position (the OFF legends are on)
  • The PACK 1 and PACK 2 pushbutton switches are in the OFF position (the OFF legends are on).
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate these pushbutton switches.
   (2) On the high pressure (HP) and the low pressure (LP) ground connectors:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to supply the ground air.
4. Procedure
Subtask 21-63-00-920-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal and Repair of the Trim-Air Pressure-Regulating-Valve Filter
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) For the trim-air pressure regulating-valve of part number 746A0000-06 and the subsequent part numbers:
     (a) Disconnect the electrical connector (1).
     (b) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
     (c) Remove and discard the lockwire from the cover (2).
     (d) Remove the cover (2) and discard the packing (5).
     (e) Remove and discard the filter (3) and the packing (4).
     (f) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (g) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
     (h) Put a new AIPC 21-63-52-02-080 PACKING (4) in position on the new AIPC 21-63-52-02-010 FILTER (3).
     (i) Put the new filter (3) in position on the trim-air pressure regulating-valve.
     (j) Put the new
AIPC 21-63-52-02-090 PACKING (5) in position on the trim-air pressure regulating-valve and install the cover (2).
     (k) TORQUE the cover (2) to between 0.44 and 0.36 m.daN (38.94 and 31.86 lbf.in )
T.
     (l) Safety the cover with the 14QDB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.5 mm (0.020 inch) CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (m) Disconnect the sense line connector (9) from the trim-air pressure regulating-valve.
     (n) Disconnect the sense line connector (10) from check valve 7270HM.
     (o) On the connection of the sense line (8) that connects to the trim-air pressure regulating-valve:
  • Use the AIR SOURCE - REGULATED, FILTERED, DRY and blow the clean and dry compressed air into the sense line (8) to remove contamination or humidity.
     (p) Connect the sense line connector (10) to check valve 7270HM.
     (q) Tighten the sense line connector (10).
     (r) Disconnect the sense line (11) from check valve 7272HM.
     (s) On the connection of the sense line (8) that connects to the trim-air pressure regulating-valve:
  • Use the AIR SOURCE - REGULATED, FILTERED, DRY and blow the clean and dry compressed air into the sense line (8) to remove contamination or humidity.
     (t) Connect the sense line connector (11) to check valve 7272HM.
     (u) Tighten the sense line connector (11).
     (v) Connect the sense line connector (9) to the trim-air pressure regulating-valve.
     (w) Tighten the sense line connector (9).
     (x) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
     (y) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
     (z) Connect the electrical connector (1).
   (2) For the trim-air pressure regulating-valve of part number 746A0000-04 (-05):
     (a) Disconnect the electrical connector (1).
     (b) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
     (c) Disconnect the sense line connector (9) from the filter (6).
     (d) Remove the filter (6) and discard the packing (7).
     (e) Send the filter (6) to the workshop for repair.
     (f) If necessary, replace the
AIPC 21-63-52-02-010 FILTER (6).
     (g) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (h) Put a new
AIPC 21-63-52-02-020 PACKING (7) on the filter (6).
     (i) Install the filter (6).
     (j) TORQUE the filter (6) to between 0.9 and 0.8 m.daN (79.65 and 70.80 lbf.in )
T.
     (k) Disconnect the sense line connector (10) from check valve 7270HM.
     (l) On the connection of the sense line (8) that connects to the trim-air pressure regulating-valve:
  • Use the AIR SOURCE - REGULATED, FILTERED, DRY and blow the clean and dry compressed air into the sense line (8) to remove contamination or humidity.
     (m) Connect the sense line connector (10) to check valve 7270HM.
     (n) Tighten the sense line connector (10).
     (o) Disconnect the sense line connector (11) from check valve 7272HM.
     (p) On the connection of the sense line (8) that connects to the trim-air pressure regulating-valve:
  • Use the AIR SOURCE - REGULATED, FILTERED, DRY and blow the clean and dry compressed air into the sense line (8) to remove contamination or humidity.
     (q) Connect the sense line connector (11) to check valve 7272HM.
     (r) Tighten the sense line connector (11).
     (s) Connect the sense line connector (9) at the trim-air pressure regulating-valve.
     (t) Tighten the sense line connector (9).
     (u) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
     (v) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
     (w) Connect the electrical connector (1).
Subtask 21-63-00-920-050-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal and Repair of the Trim-Air Pressure-Regulating-Valve Filter

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) For the trim-air pressure regulating-valve of part number 746A0000-06 and the subsequent part numbers:
     (a) Disconnect the electrical connector (5).
     (b) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
     (c) Remove and discard the lockwire from the cover (12).
     (d) Remove the cover (12) from the filter (13).
     (e) Remove and discard the filter (13).
     (f) Remove and discard the packing (14).
     (g) Remove and discard the packing (15).
     (h) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (i) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
     (j) Put a new
AIPC 21-63-52-02-080 PACKING (14) in position on the new AIPC 21-63-52-02-010 FILTER (13).
     (k) Put a new
AIPC 21-63-52-02-090 PACKING (15) in position on the trim-air pressure regulating-valve.
     (l) Put the new filter (13) in position on the trim-air pressure regulating-valve.
     (m) Install the cover (12).
     (n) TORQUE the cover (12) to between 0.44 and 0.36 m.daN (38.94 and 31.86 lbf.in )
T.
     (o) Safety the cover (12) with the 14QDB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.5 mm (0.020 inch) CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (p) Disconnect the sense line (8) from the tee (9).
     (q) Disconnect the sense line (8) from the adapter (7).
     (r) Remove the sense line (8).
     (s) Remove the tee (9) from the trim-air pressure regulating-valve.
     (t) Remove the adapter (7) and the O-ring (6) from the tube bent.
     (u) Discard the O-ring (6).
     (v) On the connection of the sense line (8) that connects to the trim-air pressure regulating-valve:
  • Use the AIR SOURCE - REGULATED, FILTERED, DRY and blow the clean and dry compressed air into the sense line (8), the tee (9) and the adapter (7) to remove contamination or humidity.
     (w) Put a new
AIPC 21-63-03-05-120 ORING (6) in position on the tube bent.
     (x) Install the adapter (7) in position on the tube bent.
     (y) Tighten the adapter (7).
     (z) Install the tee (9) in position on the trim-air pressure regulating-valve.
     (aa) Tighten the tee (9).
     (ab) Connect one end of the sense line (8) to the adapter (7) and the other end of the sense line (8) to the tee (9).
     (ac) Install the sense line (8) on the adapter (7) and the tee (9).
     (ad) Tighten the coupling nuts of the sense line (8).
     (ae) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
     (af) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
     (ag) Connect the electrical connector (5).
   (2) For the trim-air pressure regulating-valve of part number 746A0000-04/05:
     (a) Disconnect the electrical connector (5).
     (b) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
     (c) Disconnect the sense line (8) from the tee (9).
     (d) Disconnect the sense line (8) from the adapter (7).
     (e) Remove the sense line (8).
     (f) Remove the adapter (7) and the O-ring (6) from the tube bent.
     (g) Discard the O-ring (6).
     (h) Remove the tee (9) from the filter (10).
     (i) Remove the filter (10) and the packing (11) from the trim-air pressure regulating-valve.
     (j) Discard the packing (11).
     (k) Send the filter (10) to the workshop for repair.
     (l) On the connection of the sense line (8) that connects to the trim-air pressure regulating-valve:
  • Use the AIR SOURCE - REGULATED, FILTERED, DRY and blow the clean and dry compressed air into the sense line (8), the tee (9) and the adapter (7) to remove contamination or humidity.
     (m) If necessary, replace the
AIPC 21-63-52-02-010 FILTER (10).
     (n) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
     (o) Put a new
AIPC 21-63-52-02-020 PACKING (11) in position on the trim-air pressure regulating-valve.
     (p) Install the new filter (10) in position on the trim-air pressure regulating-valve.
     (q) TORQUE the filter (10) to between 0.9 and 0.8 m.daN (79.65 and 70.80 lbf.in )
T.
     (r) Install the tee (9) on the filter (10).
     (s) Tighten the tee (9).
     (t) Put a new
AIPC 21-63-03-05-120 ORING (6) in position on the tube bent.
     (u) Install the adapter (7) in position on the tube bent.
     (v) Tighten the adapter (7).
     (w) Connect one end of the sense line (8) to the adapter (7) and the other end of the sense line (8) to the tee (9).
     (x) Install the sense line (8) on the adapter (7) and the tee (9).
     (y) Tighten the coupling nuts of the sense line (8).
     (z) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
     (aa) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
     (ab) Connect the electrical connector (5).

C. Test(s)
   (1) Do the pre-conditioning through the HP ground connector or with the APU (
Ref. AMM TASK 12-33-21-618-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 12-33-21-618-001).
   (2) Make sure that there are no leaks from the filter connections.
   (3) After approximately 15 minutes, stop the pre-conditioning (Ref. AMM TASK 12-33-21-618-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 12-33-21-618-001).
   (4) Do the functional test of the cockpit and the cabin temperature control-system (Ref. AMM TASK 21-63-00-720-001)

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the access panels at partition FR34 (Ref. AMM D/O 06-41-53-00) and (Ref. AMM TASK 25-54-12-400-001).
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Close FWD cargo-compartment door 825 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
   (5) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
