WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT AIR IS NOT SUPPLIED TO THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM FROM THE MAIN ENGINE, THE APU OR A GROUND SOURCE. HOT COMPRESSED AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL.

NOTE: The procedure is the same for the main heat exchanger 10HM7 and 11HM7.

4. Procedure
Subtask 21-52-26-020-050-A

A. Removal of the Main Heat Exchanger
(1) Remove the heat exchanger unit (Ref. AMM TASK 21-52-24-000-001).
(2) Remove the screws (4), washers (3), gasket (2) (if installed) and main heat exchanger (5).
(3) Put the protective covers on the cooling elements of the main heat exchanger (5) and the primary heat exchanger (1).
(4) If the nut (9), washer (10), screw (12) and bonding strap (11) are installed, remove them.
(5) If two plates are installed:
(a) Remove the screws (7), the air-conditioning pack identification-plate (6) and the air-conditioning pack amendment-plate (8) from the removed main heat exchanger (5) and keep them for the installation procedure.

NOTE: Airbus recommends that this step is necessary as these plates have the part numbers for the air-conditioning pack.

(6) If one plate is installed:
(a) Remove the screws (7), the air-conditioning pack identification-plate/air-conditioning pack amendment-plate (6) from the removed main heat exchanger (5) and keep them for the installation procedure.

NOTE: Airbus recommends that this step is necessary as the plate has the part number for the air-conditioning pack.
