A. Detailed Visual Inspection of the Pipe Assembly
   (1) Do a general inspection of the pipe assembly for:
  • Distortion
  • Dents
  • Corrosion
  • Damage to the corrosion protection treatment
  • Correct installation of the identification plates
  • Scratches.
   (2) Do an inspection of the sealing surfaces and the seal seats of 10HM and/or 11HM for:
  • Scratches
  • Nicks
  • Indentations
  • Corrosion.
   (3) Do an inspection of the threads of the screw for:
  • Indentations
  • Breaks
  • Scoring.
   (4) Do an inspection of the screw coil inserts for:
  • Tightness
  • Correct depth.
NOTE: The screw coil insert will be 1/4 turn below the surface of the hole.
   (5) When you do the inspection, do a check of the results as follows:
     (a) Small dents that have no effect on the cross sectional area of the pipe are permitted if:
  • They have no sharp bends and the depth is not more than 2 MM (0.08 IN.).
     (b) Remove the light scratches (with a depth of not more than 2 MM (0.08 IN.)).
     (c) Use the BRUSH - BRISTLED, FIBER, MEDIUM or the ABRASIVE PAPER - 320 TO 500 GRIT and remove the scratch.
     (d) After the removal of the scratch, make sure that the surface finish is smooth and there are no blemishes.
     (e) After the removal of the scratch, repair the corrosion protection surface (refer to Para.C.).
     (f) If there is minor damage in the corrosion protection surface, repair the corrosion protection surface (refer to Para.C.).
     (g) Safety the loose identification plates.

C. Repair to the Corrosion Protection Surface
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
   (1) Preparation of the Corrosion Protection Fluid
     (a) Mix the necessary amount of corrosion protection fluid Surface Pretreatment-Light Alloys Chemical Conversion Yellow - (Material No.10ABC1) to the manufacturers instructions.
   (2) Application of the Corrosion Protection Surface
     (a) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) which is wet with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the affected areas.
     (b) Let the area dry.
     (c) Put TAPE - MASKING on the areas where no repair is necessary.
     (d) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) to apply the corrosion protection fluid Surface Pretreatment-Light Alloys Chemical Conversion Yellow - (Material No.10ABC1) to the affected areas.
NOTE: You must apply three layers of the corrosion protection fluid Surface Pretreatment-Light Alloys Chemical Conversion Yellow - (Material No.10ABC1) within a five minute period.
     (e) Flush the affected area with clean water.
     (f) Dry the affected area with dry, clean hot air at a maximum temperature of 50 deg.C (122.00 deg.F).
   (3) Quality Control
     (a) Do a visual inspection of the repair:
  • the repair must have a gold to light brown colour with a matt or iridescent finish.
