1. General.
The Main Landing Gear (MLG) doors are installed on the center fuselage keel-beam and on the wings and the MLG legs. When closed the doors close off the undercarriage bays and give a smooth profile.

2. Component Location
A. MLG Main Door Assembly
Each MLG main door assembly has a NOMEX honeycomb core with CFRP plies bonded to each face. Attached to each MLG main door assembly are:

- an aluminum alloy uplock and step assembly
- a stainless steel step assembly
- an aluminum alloy lateral ramp
- two aluminum alloy sensor assemblies.

3. System Description
A. MLG Main Door
The MLG main doors open around the aircraft center line. They are usually in the closed position and locked. An actuator opens the MLG main doors when the MLG extends or retracts. A control lever and cable to the uplock opens the MLG main doors for maintenance.

B. MLG Hinged Fairings
The MLG hinged fairings attach to the wing. A connecting rod from the MLG causes the MLG hinged fairings to open or close when the MLG extends or retracts.

C. MLG Fixed Fairing
The MLG fixed fairing is fixed in relation to the MLG. It attaches at five positions to the MLG and moves directly with the MLG.
