3. System Description
A forward-facing navigation light assembly is installed at the leading edge of each wing tip. A rearward-facing navigation light assembly is installed on the tail cone, below the APU exhaust. Each light assembly has a different colored lens:
  • The left wing-tip navigation light 9LA has a red lens
  • The right wing-tip navigation light 10LA has a green lens
  • The tail navigation light 15LA has a clear lens.

The navigation lights are controlled by the toggle switch 3LA which is installed on the overhead panel 25VU in the cockpit. The switch has three positions, which are identified NAV & LOGO 2/1/OFF.
A forward-facing LED navigation light assembly with Near End-Of-Life (NEOL) indication is installed at the leading edge of each wing tip. The NEOL indication is a blue LED light that flashes when the LED light assembly is in the last 950 hours of its pre-programmed life. The LED light assembly will become unserviceable after its pre-programmed life of 20000 hours.
A rearward-facing navigation light assembly is installed on the tail cone, below the APU exhaust.
Each light assembly has a different color:
  • The left wing-tip navigation light 9LA has red LEDs
  • The right wing-tip navigation light 10LA has green LEDs
  • The tail navigation light 15LA has a clear lens.

The navigation lights are controlled with the toggle switch 3LA which is installed on the overhead panel 25VU in the cockpit. The switch has three positions, which are identified NAV & LOGO 2/1/OFF.
A forward-facing LED navigation light with Near End-Of-Life (NEOL) indication is installed at the leading edge of each sharklet. The NEOL indication is a blue LED light that flashes when the LED light is near degradation and you must replace it by a serviceable light before 1000 flight hours. When the NEOL indication comes on, the LED light will not be extinguished after 1000 flight hours but its performance can decrease to less than the certification requirements.

When the NEOL indication comes on, the LED light will not be extinguished after 1000 flight hours but its performance can decrease to less than the certification requirements.
One more LED navigation light, with NEOL indication, is installed on the tail cone, below the APU exhaust. For this NEOL indication there are four green LEDs that flash when the LED light assembly is in the last 1000 hours of its pre-programmed life. The LED light assembly will become unserviceable after its pre-programmed life of 20000 hours.
Each LED light assembly has a different color:

  • The right wing-tip navigation-light 10LA has green LEDs.
  • The LED navigation light 16LA has white LEDs.

The navigation lights are controlled through toggle switch 3LA, which is installed on the overhead control and indicator panel 25VU.
The NAV & LOGO switch has three positions:
  • OFF, 1 and 2.

The SERVICE BUS 2, 216XP supplies the navigation light systems 1 and 2 with 115VAC 400Hz. The power is supplied to each system through the related circuit breakers 1LA and 2LA. These circuit breakers are installed on the panel 122VU in the cockpit. Relays 6LA and 7LA connect the supply to the step-down transformers of the related navigation lights. These relays are installed on the panel 103VU.
