3. System Description
A. Forward Lavatory-Occupied Sign
Occupied sign 3WJ shows the position of the forward lavatory A and if it is occupied or not. The sign is installed in a position where it is easily seen.
Occupied sign 3WJ shows the position of the forward lavatory A and if it is occupied or not. The sign is installed in a position where it is easily seen.
(1) The 28VDC normal busbar 208PP energizes the sign through circuit breaker 1WJ and the microswitch of the related lavatory. The microswitch is installed in the door frame of the lavatory A.
(2) If the door of the lavatory A is unlocked, the electrical supply flows through the related microswitch to the FREE terminal of the sign. The sign pictogram/ legend comes on with a green color to show that the lavatory A is not occupied.
(3) When the door is closed and locked, the contacts of the related microswitch change over. This moves the electrical supply from the FREE terminal to the ENGAGED terminal. Thus, the sign pictogram/legend comes on with a red color to show that the lavatory A is occupied. At the same time relay 18LP energizes. Annunciator 6WJ in the cockpit comes on to show the flight crew that the forward lavatory A is occupied.
B. Rear Lavatory-Occupied Sign
Rear lavatory-occupied sign 13WJ shows the positions of the two rear lavatories. It also shows if both lavatories are occupied or not occupied. The sign is installed in a position where it can be easily seen.
The rear lavatory-occupied signs 13WJ and 14WJ show the positions of the two rear lavatories. They also show if the lavatories are occupied or not occupied. The signs are installed in a position where they can be easily seen.

(1) The 28VDC normal busbar 208PP energizes the sign through circuit breaker 11WJ (relay 8WJ) and the door microswitches. One microswitch is installed in the door frame of each rear lavatory.
(2) With one or more lavatory doors unlocked, the electrical supply flows through relay 8WJ to the FREE terminal of the sign. The sign pictogram/legend comes on green to show that at least one of the lavatories is not occupied.
(3) When the door of each lavatory is closed and locked, the electrical supply energizes relay 5WJ. The electrical supply then energize relay 8WJ through the closed contacts of relay 5WJ. The relay contacts change over, removes the electrical supply from the FREE terminal of the sign and supplies it to the ENGAGED terminal. The sign pictogram/legend changes to red to show that both lavatories are occupied.
(4) The 28VDC busbar 208PP energizes the signs through circuit breaker 11WJ and the related microswitches of the lavatories. One microswitch is installed in the door frame of each rear lavatory.
(5) With the lavatory doors unlocked, the electrical supply flows through the lavatory microswitches to the FREE terminal of each sign. The sign pictogram/legends come on green to show that the lavatories are not occupied.
(6) When the lavatory doors are closed and locked, the contacts of the microswitches change over and remove the electrical supply from the FREE terminal to the ENGAGED terminal of the related sign. The sign pictogram/legends change to red to show that the related lavatory is occupied.
(7) The rear lavatory-occupied sign 13WJ shows the positions of the two rear lavatories D and L on the left side. It also shows if the two lavatories are occupied or not occupied. The sign is installed in a position where it can be seen easily.
(a) The 28VDC normal busbar 208PP energizes the sign 13WJ through the circuit breaker 11WJ and the relay 1. The door microswitches of the lavatories D and L and the relay 2 energize the relay 1.
The two relays are installed in the lavatory L. One microswitch is installed in the door frame of each of the lavatories D and L.
The two relays are installed in the lavatory L. One microswitch is installed in the door frame of each of the lavatories D and L.
(b) With one or the two doors of these lavatories unlocked, the relays cause the electrical supply to energize the FREE terminal of the sign 13WJ. The sign pictogram/legend comes on green to show that at least one of these lavatories is not occupied.
(c) When the door of each of the lavatories D and L is closed and locked, the electrical supply energizes the two relays. The relay 1 removes the electrical supply from the FREE terminal of the sign 13WJ and supplies it to the ENGAGED terminal. The sign pictogram/legend changes to red and shows that the two lavatories are occupied.
(8) The rear lavatory occupied-sign 14WJ shows the position of the rear lavatory M on the right side. It also shows if this lavatory is occupied or not occupied. The sign is installed in a position where it can be seen easily.
