OPERATIONAL PRESENTATION - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

1. General
The present section is an analysis of the faults which may occur on the aircraft systems.

In addition, this section describes the failures on an operational point of view. It gives the list of all the level 3, level 2, level 1 warnings, special lines and secondary warnings, status and memos sorted by priority order.

It also gives the presentation of a warning page and for each ATA chapter (Ref. ECAM System Logic Data (ESLD)) includes the following information:

  • the list of the warnings and the associated referenced figure for the level 3, level 2, level 1 warnings,

  • the associated ECAM system page (if any) displayed on the SD (names of symbols, colors and advisories),

  • the warning sequence of each fault with associated messages displayed on the ECAM Warning Display and the System Display.

A. Upper ECAM Display Unit

The upper ECAM display unit is divided into four sections:

  • the left upper section shows the engine parameters,

  • the left lower section shows the memo items and the primary or independent faults,

  • the right upper section shows some indications concerning the fuel management plus the flap and slat position,

  • the right lower section shows secondary faults or memo items.
B. Lower ECAM Display Unit

On the left part are displayed (in priority order):

  • limitations,

  • approach procedures,

  • procedures,

  • information,

  • cancelled cautions.

On the right part are displayed (in priority order):

  • inoperative systems,

  • maintenance items (class 2 maintenance status).

3. List of Maintenance Items in Status
The faults which can be displayed in the MAINTENANCE item of the STATUS page are listed in the ECAM System Logic Data (ESLD) warning index.

NOTE: The MAINTENANCE part of the STATUS page is only available on ground when both engines are stopped.

4. Symbology Used in the Operational Presentation

An underlined title plus a framed wording indicates a primary failure.
NAV ADR 1 FAULT

An underlined title plus a plain wording indicates an independent fault.
*FUEL
An asterisk plus a title (plain) indicates a secondary fault.
Each page related to a fault analysis mentions:
  • the fault name,
  • the SYSTEM page called by the fault,
  • the detector (item of equipment providing the fault to the warning system),
  • the MASTER light activated by the fault,
  • the aural warning triggered by the fault,
  • the ATA chapter number to file the fault,
  • the flight phases which inhibit the fault,
  • the operational sequence of crew action with associated warning titles and ECAM messages as seen by the crew during the flight.
