LIST OF MATERIALS REQUIRED FOR AIRCRAFT SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
1. General
The list of consumable materials is given in the Consumable Material List (CML).
For some applications in the AMM procedures, there can be alternative materials. These materials have the same item number as the basic material but with a suffix letter (A, B, C, etc.).
(Example: 06-001A, 06-001B & 06-001C are alternatives of 06-001).
You can use one of the alternative materials if there is an asterisk after the basic item number called up in the procedure (e.g. 06-001*). If the procedure calls up the basic material without an asterisk or a specific material with a suffix letter, then you must use that specific material only.
From the October 2011 revision of the CML, the materials are organized by "Application". Refer to the CML Introduction for more information.
The AMM usually gives the CML item number, except for new materials referenced by an Application code.
In AIRNAV/Maintenance there is a hyperlink between the material identification given in the AMM and the CML available in AIRNAV/Associated Data.
