The hydraulic fluid instructions give specifications and special instructions.
The hydraulic fluid instructions give specifications and special instructions.
A. Specifications of Phosphate-Ester Base Fluids
(1) The aircraft hydraulic systems are filled with hydraulic fluids with a phosphate ester base. The material numbers (Mat No.) are as follows:
- 02-003A,
- 02-003B,
- 02-003D,
- 02-003E,
- 02-008.
(2) The hydraulic fluid is specified by the operator. All fluids agree with the NSA 307110 specification. You can mix them.
(3) For the fluid characteristics, refer to Fig. 001.

- 02-003B,
- 02-003D,
- 02-003E,
- 02-008.
NOTE: It is permitted to use a proportion of maximum 10% of high-density fluid Skydrol 500B-4 into hydraulic systems for A320NEO.
If a hydraulic component is repaired in shop and filled with high-density fluid Skydrol 500B-4 can be installed on aircraft.

(6) For the fluid characteristics, refer to Fig. 001.
B. Fluid Monitoring
(1) For the correct operation of the hydraulic systems and equipment, it is necessary to use hydraulic fluid that is very clean (with a small quantity of contamination).
(2) To monitor the hydraulic fluid, it is necessary to get samples frequently, count particles (physical contamination) and examine the filter clogging indicators.
(3) If the filter clogging indicator is shown, you must:
- Stop the related hydraulic system.
- Replace the clogged filter.
- Get a sample of the hydraulic fluid from the system and send it for analysis.
(4) Use the results of the analysis record (physical contamination) to do the reclamation of the hydraulic fluid:
- (Ref. 12-36-29-600-004)
- (Ref. 12-36-29-600-005)
- (Ref. 12-36-29-600-006).
NOTE: The number of particles contained in 100 cm3 (6.10 in.3) of hydraulic fluid must not be more than the class 9 requirements of the NSA 307110 specification (final or rejection state).
NOTE: The quantity of contamination of the hydraulic fluid that you use for replenishment (when you add fluid to the hydraulic systems and hydraulic cart reservoirs to make them full) must agree with class 7 of the NSA 307110 specification (initial state).
C. Hydraulic Ground Power-Cart
You must only use hydraulic ground power-carts with a hydraulic reservoir.
It is necessary to monitor the fluid sampling operation for contamination of the hydraulic fluid at regular intervals. You must record the sample analysis. This helps prevent contamination of the aircraft hydraulic systems from the hydraulic ground power-cart.

NOTE: Intervals of the contamination test of the hydraulic ground-power cart are specified in the supplier's handbook.
D. In-Service Limits for Hydraulic Fluid Properties
The in-service limits for hydraulic fluid properties are:
The in-service limits for hydraulic fluid properties are:
- The physical properties,
- The chemical properties.
NOTE: The maximum water contents permitted by the manufacturer in hydraulic fluids is 0.8 %. But when this limit occurs at the same time as very high temperatures, this decreases the life of the hydraulic fluids. Airbus Industrie thus recommends a limit of 0.5 %, which will increase the life of the hydraulic fluid.
(1) It is necessary that the quality of the hydraulic fluid is in the limits given in Fig. 002.
(a) If the water or chlorine content of the hydraulic fluid is equal to or more than the permitted value:
Clean it with the HYDRAULIC PURIFIER (HSPA181-380J):

E. Specifications of Mineral Base Fluids
(1) When each aircraft landing-gear shock-absorber is supplied, it is filled with a hydraulic fluid (Mat. No 02-001) that agrees with the MIL-H-5606 or MIL-PRF-5606 specification.
