OIL FILTER CLOGGING WARNING SYSTEM - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
1. General
The Oil-Filter Delta-Pressure sensor (OFDP) function is to provide the Electronic Engine Control (EEC) the delta pressure of the oil filter (Ref. AMM D/O 79-20-00-00) to monitor if the filter is clogged.

2. Component Location
The OFDP sensor is installed on the lube unit (Ref. AMM D/O 79-20-00-00), on the rear face of the Accessory Gearbox (AGB) at 7 o'clock aft looking forward. Two O-rings are installed on the OFDP sensor to prevent oil leakage.
** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
3. System Description
The OFDP is a dual channel sensor made of a body that includes the components that follow:
  • A dual differential-pressure measurement-system (strain gauge)
  • One electrical connector
  • A mounting flange with intrusive pressure ports.

The dual differential-pressure measurement-system is made of a membrane whose shape can change if different pressures are applied on its two sides. One side of the membrane is set at the pressure upstream the filter, the other side at the pressure downstream the filter. The distortion caused by the pressure difference is then measured by a strain gauge which provides a voltage proportional to the differential pressure.
