ENGINE FUEL DISTRIBUTION COMPONENTS - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
1. General
The engine fuel distribution system supplies fuel for combustion. The engine fuel system gives the fuel flow to the combustor and to the fuel actuated valves and actuators. It also gives cooling for the oil system.

2. Component Description
A. Main Fuel Pump
The two main functions of the main fuel pump are:
The two main functions of the main fuel pump are:
- To give fuel pressure and flow
- To protect the fuel system from over pressurization with bypass valve.
B. Main Fuel Filter
The main function of the main fuel filter is to remove contaminants from the fuel.
The main fuel filter is installed on the fan frame.

C. Servo Fuel Heater
The function of the servo fuel heater is to increase the temperature of the fuel that goes through the servo valves of the split control unit/servo valve assembly and of the fuel metering unit by using oil as a heating medium.
The servo fuel heater is installed on the fan frame at 10 o'clock position.

E. Fuel Nozzle
The main functions of the nozzle are:
The main functions of the nozzle are:
- To distribute and atomize fuel into the combustion chamber
- To inject fuel into the main air premixer flow through main manifold
- To spray fuel into the pilot air swirler flow through pilot primary manifold.
F. Fuel Return Valve (FRV)
The functions of the FRV are:
The functions of the FRV are:
- To let the cold fuel to be supplied to the IDG oil cooler in case of hot oil temperature
- To control the level of the fuel flow that comes back to the fuel tank.
The FRV is installed on the fan frame at 10 o'clock position.
