ENGINE FUEL AND CONTROL - GENERAL - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
1. General
The main functions of fuel and control system is:
  • To supply sufficient fuel flow to the combustor chamber for necessary engine power
  • To give optimal engine operation by compressor airflow and turbine clearance control.

The fuel and control system is divided as follows:
** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
2. System Description
A. Distribution
The distribution system supplies fuel for combustion. The Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) system calculates fuel necessary from the thrust command inputs, engine conditions, ambient parameters and feedback, and then supplies fuel flow to the combustion chamber.
The distribution system consists of the system that follows:
  • The fuel distribution system
  • The Integrated Drive Generator (IDG) oil cooling system.
B. Controlling
The purpose of the control system is to control the engine operation.
The controlling system consists of:
  • Engine controlling components
  • The FADEC system
  • The functional interface system.
C. Indicating
The purpose of indication is to sense fuel supply to the engine and supply information to the aircraft for the cockpit indication, maintenance reporting and engine condition monitoring.
The indication system consists of:
  • The fuel flow indicating
  • The fuel filter clogging warning system.
