LPT SHAFT MODULE - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
1. General
The Low Pressure Turbine (LPT) shaft module connects the Low Pressure LP Compressor shaft (Ref. AMM D/O 72-22-00-00) and the LPT rotor (Ref. AMM D/O 72-58-00-00).
** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL The Low Pressure Turbine (LPT) shaft module connects the Low Pressure LP Compressor shaft (Ref. AMM D/O 72-22-00-00) and the LPT rotor (Ref. AMM D/O 72-58-00-00).
2. System Description
The LPT shaft module is composed of:
The LPT shaft module is composed of:
- Front vent tube: The front vent tube is fixed to the LPT shaft with a slotted nut and a ring retainer. The function of front vent tube is to vent to the atmosphere the air coming from engine forward sump (MSI 72-20-00) through oil separator ducts (MSI 72-20-00).
- The air comes from the on the LP compressor shaft.
- The damper seal ensures the oil sealing between the LP shaft and the front vent tube.
- O-ring
- LPT shaft: The function of the LPT shaft is to transmit LPT torque to the fan and booster module (Ref. AMM D/O 72-21-00-00) through the LP Compressor shaft (Ref. AMM D/O 72-22-00-00). The LPT shaft is a life limited part. It is made of high strength steel. At the front, the LPT shaft is fixed by a slotted nut and a nut retainer to the LP compressor shaft (Ref. AMM D/O 72-00-00-00) (MSI 72-20-00). At the rear, the LPT shaft is assembled bolted by 28 bolts and nuts with the LPT cone torque through the No. 4 bearing rotating seal and the ring seal enclosure.
- No. 4 bearing rotating seal (covered in (Ref. AMM D/O 72-54-00-00), turbine center frame). The No. 4 bearing rotating is part of the No.4 bearing (Ref. AMM D/O 72-52-00-00) sealing. The No. 4 bearing rotating seal has an abradable deposit. It is assembled bolted to the LPT rotor through the LPT shaft.
- Damper seal
