2. System Description
A. Stage 1 HPT Rotor Disk
The stage 1 HPT rotor disk is a life limited part connected to the rear arm of the High Pressure Compressor (HPC) rotor (Ref. AMM D/O 72-30-00-00) and to the combustor diffusor nozzle rotating seal.

B. Stage 2 HPT Rotor Disk
The stage 2 HPT rotor disk is a life limited part.
The stage 2 HPT rotor disk is a life limited part.
C. Stage 1 HPT Rotor Blade
Each stage 1 HPT rotor blade is installed in an axial slot in the outer diameter of the stage 1 HPT disk. The stage 1 HPT rotor blades with the stage 1 HPT rotor disk are used to transmit mechanical torque needed to drive the HPC rotor (Ref. AMM D/O 72-30-00-00).

D. Stage 2 HPT Rotor Blade
Each stage 2 HPT rotor blade is installed in an axial slot in the outer diameter of the stage 2 HPT disk. The stage 2 HPT rotor blades with the stage 2 HPT rotor disk are used to transmit mechanical torque needed to drive the HPC rotor (Ref. AMM D/O 72-30-00-00).

E. Forward Outer Seal
The forward outer seal is a life limited part which is used to transfer cooling air to the stage 1 HPT blades.
The forward outer seal is a life limited part which is used to transfer cooling air to the stage 1 HPT blades.
F. HPT Rotor Interstage Seal
The HPT rotor insterstage seal is a life limited part which is used to prevent air from leaking around the stage 2 HPT stator nozzle.
The HPT rotor insterstage seal is a life limited part which is used to prevent air from leaking around the stage 2 HPT stator nozzle.
G. HPT Aft Rotating Seal
The HPT aft rotating seal is a life limited part which is used to provide the correct pressurization of the No. 4 roller bearing sump.
The HPT aft rotating seal is a life limited part which is used to provide the correct pressurization of the No. 4 roller bearing sump.
H. HPT Rotor Coupling Nut
The HPT rotor coupling nut is used to axially clamp the two rotating stages of the HPT together.
The HPT rotor coupling nut is used to axially clamp the two rotating stages of the HPT together.
I. Stage 1 HPT Blade Retainer
The blade retainer is used to secure the HPT rotor blades axially.
The blade retainer is used to secure the HPT rotor blades axially.
J. Stage 2 HPT Blade Retainer
The blade retainer is used to secure the HPT rotor blades axially.
The blade retainer is used to secure the HPT rotor blades axially.
3. Operation
The HPT rotor assembly is supported by the No. 4 cylindrical roller bearing in the back and by the HPC rotor in the front with 36 bolts. Gas energy from the combustion chamber passes through the HPT rotor blades and transmits mechanical torque to drive the HPC rotor (Ref. AMM D/O 72-30-00-00), inlet gearbox (Ref. AMM D/O 72-60-00-00), transfer gearbox (Ref. AMM D/O 72-60-00-00) and accessory gearbox (Ref. AMM D/O 72-60-00-00).
