2. System Description
A. Twin Annular Premixing Swirler Fuel Nozzles
The fuel nozzles are used to introduce fuel to the combustion chamber for combustions. These are mounted through the combustor diffuser nozzle case and the combustion chamber dome and into the combustion chamber.
Each fuel nozzle has a twin annular premixing swirler design that permits a dual flow with a primary and main circuit.
B. Combustion Chamber Dome
The combustion chamber dome is the forward wall of the combustion chamber.
The combustion chamber dome directs hot combustion gases aft.
C. Inner Liner
The inner liner forms the inboard part of the combustion chamber assembly.
The inner liner has cooling holes and is covered by a thermal barrier coating to protect it during the combustion process.
The inner liner directs hot gases into the High Pressure Turbine (HPT) stage 1 nozzle.
D. Outer Liner
The outer liner forms the outboard portion of the combustion chamber assembly and contains the igniter ports and borescope ports.
It includes cooling holes and a thermal barrier coating to protect it from the energy that is produced during the combustion process.
The outer liner directs hot gases into the HPT stage 1 nozzle.
E. Radial Mixer
The radial mixer is used to provide air to the combustion chamber.
Radial mixers are placed around the fuel nozzles in the combustion chamber dome.
The radial mixer takes air from the diffuser and spins it before it is mixed with the fuel.
F. Inner Baffle
The inner baffle is used to help to cool the inner line. It is designed with cooling holes to help to dissipate heat.
G. Outer Baffle
The outer baffle is used to help to cool the outer liner. It is designed with cooling holes to help to dissipate heat.

3. Operation
The combustion chamber assembly contains the components that mix the air from the High Pressure Compressor (HPC) and the fuel from the fuel system to generate energy.
The energy then powers the turbine section of the engine and at the same time makes part of the thrust.
