1. General
The cowls enclose the periphery of the engine so as to form the engine nacelle.
The nacelle provides :

The nacelle provides :
- protection for the engine and the accessories
- airflow around the engine during its operation.
- lightning protection
- HIRF and EMI attenuation
- air intake cowl
- fan cowl
- the thrust reversers and the primary exhaust (Ref. AMM D/O 78-00-00-00).
NOTE: Fan cowls and thrust reversers are not removed for an engine change.
