RUDDER ATTACH FITTINGS - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

1. General
The rudder attach fittings are installed at the front spar of the rudder. There are seven rudder attach fittings and three actuator attach fittings.

3. Description
A. Attach Fittings Location
(1) The rudder attach fittings attach the rudder to hinge arms at the rear spar of the vertical stabilizer.
(2) They are attached in line with the ribs of the vertical stabilizer spar-box as follows:
- the attach fitting No. 1 in line with rib No. 2,
- the attach fitting No. 2 in line with rib No. 4,
- the attach fitting No. 3 in line with rib No. 5,
- the attach fitting No. 4 in line with rib No. 6,
- the attach fitting No. 5 in line with rib No. 7,
- the attach fitting No. 6 in line with rib No. 9,
- the attach fitting No. 7 in line with rib No. 11.
(3) The actuator attach fittings AC1, AC2 and AC3 attach the rudder to the actuator of the servo control units. They are installed between the rudder attach fitting No. 2 and the rudder attach fitting No. 5.
(4) All the attach fittings are made of aluminum alloy. They are riveted to the front spar and to the side shells of the rudder. Hi-Loks are used for the installation.
(5) The hinge bolts through the bearings connect the rudder to the hinge arms of the vertical stabilizer spar-box.
(6) Only the attach fitting No. 6 holds the vertical load of the rudder.
(7) The attach fitting No. 1 is installed together with a fork for the connection of the rudder position transmitter.
