3. Description.
The aprons are of sandwich construction. The sandwich has surfaces made of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) and Nomex honeycomb cores. A clamping profile and countersunk screws attach the aprons to the horizontal stabilizer. The forward edges of the aprons follow a guide profile which is riveted to the fuselage skin. A silicone sealing strip seals the gap between the fuselage skin and the aprons.
