PYLON-TO-NACELLE JUNCTION - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
1. General
The pylon-to-nacelle junction is the interface between the forward fairing, the engine nacelle and the pylon box.
** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
2. Description
The pylon-to-nacelle junction has:
  • The fan cowl hinge fittings
  • The thrust reverser cowl hinge fittings
  • The pylon-to-nacelle profiles and aprons
  • The Rear Mount Fairing (RMF).
A. Fan Cowl Hinge Fittings:
F Fan Cowl Hinge Fittings ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
There are two fan cowl hinge fittings at RIB01 and RIB03 of the forward secondary structure. They are made of titanium alloy.
B. Thrust Reverser Cowl Hinge Fittings:
There are two thrust reverser cowl hinge fittings at RIB2 and RIB4 of the pylon box. They are made of titanium alloy.
C. Pylon-to-Nacelle Profiles and Aprons:
  • There are two profiles between RIB00 and RIB04 of the forward secondary structure.
  • There are two aprons between RIB04 and RIB07 of the forward secondary structure.
  • There are two profiles between RIB3 and RIB5 of the pylon box.
These profiles and aprons give an aerodynamic shape to the surface.
These profiles and aprons are made of stainless steel.
D. Rear Mount Fairing (RMF):
F Rear Mount Fairing (RMF) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
The RMF is a structure that you can remove. It makes an aerodynamic joint between the pylon box and the aft pylon fairing.
It has four parts installed between RIB4 and RIB7 of the pylon box:
  • Two RMF doors:
    - One of these RMF doors is installed on the left side
    - The other one is installed on the right side.
They give access to the pylon-to-engine aft attachment-fittings at RIB5.
  • Two RMF assemblies:
    - One of these RMF assemblies is installed on the left side
    - The other one is installed on the right side.
All these RMF doors and RMF assemblies are made of stainless steel.
