REAR PYLON FAIRING - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

1. General
The Rear Pylon Fairing (RPF) is a structure that you can remove which closes the rear pylon.

2. Description
The rear pylon fairing has three subassemblies:
  • A fairing assembly
  • A Y-stopper
  • A gutter.
A. Fairing Assembly
(1) The fairing assembly gives an aerodynamic contour to the aft part of the pylon.
(2) The fairing assembly is made of composite material and the subassembly is made of aluminum and stainless steel.
(3) There is a Y-shape seal on the wing interface which gives an air-tight joint between the fairing assembly and the wing.
B. Y-stopper
(1) The Y-stopper is made of metal. It is an interface between the wing and the fairing assembly.
C. Gutter
(1) The gutter is made of composite material. It gives an aerodynamic contour to the aft part of the fairing assembly and closes the rear of the fairing assembly.
(2) There is a Y-shape seal on the wing interface which gives an air-tight joint between the gutter and the wing.
