TEMPERATURE INDICATING - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
1. General
The temperature indicating system monitors the APU Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT). Two thermocouples, transmit a signal to the ECB 59KD. The ECB 59KD gives a EGT signal to the Electronic Instrument System (EIS). The EIS shows on the APU page at the lower ECAM display unit the APU EGT in DEG. C.

3. System Description
F Thermocouple - Description ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
The temperature indicating system shows the EGT on the EIS lower ECAM display unit.
Two EGT thermocouples are installed in the exhaust cone at the turbine discharge. The thermocouples are connected together. Each thermocouple is connected to the ECB 59KD. The ECB 59KD reads the average temperature of the two thermocouple and transmits the EGT signal to the EIS. If a failure of one thermocouple occurs, the ECB 59KD takes the value of the remaining thermocouple and transmits this EGT signal to the EIS.
The EIS shows the EGT in DEG. C on the EIS lower ECAM display unit.

4. Interface
The temperature indicating system has interface with the Control and Monitoring System (Ref. AMM D/O 49-61-00-00).

5. Component Description
A. EGT Thermocouples
The EGT thermocouple is a chrome-alumel device which has two probes of different lengths. The EGT thermocouples produce a voltage in proportion to the EGT. This voltage is supplied through a shielded cable to the ECB 59KD.

6. Operation/Control and Indicating
F Thermocouple - Description ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Operation
The thermocouple measure the EGT and supply a voltage to the ECB 59KD. The ECB 59KD monitors the temperature indications in all APU operating conditions (Ref. 49-61-00).

The ECB 59KD starts the automatic shutdown sequence if the two thermocouple are defective during the APU start.
B. Control and Indication
The EIS shows on the APU page at the SD the APU EGT in DEG. C (Ref. AMM D/O 49-00-00-00).
