SYSTEM DISPLAY - APU PAGE - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
1. APU Page
The APU Page is described in the following figure with its 10 parameters as follows:
Item 1: APU GEN operation

Item 2: APU GEN line contactor

Item 3: APU available

Item 4: APU bleed valve

Item 5: APU bleed operation

Item 6: APU fuel LO press

Item 7: APU air intake flap fully open

Item 8: APU oil quantity

Item 9: APU EGT

Item 10: APU (N)

The symbols related to these indications are described hereafter:
A. APU Generator operation
(Item 1)

The main parameters of the generator operation are described in this rectangle.

(1) Case 1
In this case the generator is not in standby and is not off.
  • Item A
The title APU GEN is normally displayed in white.
    It is displayed in amber:
when the generator load below is amber,
    when the voltage is amber,
    when the frequency is amber.
  • Item B
    Generator load
The generator load is normally displayed in green.
It is displayed in amber when there is a generator overload as transmitted by the SDAC.
It is replaced by amber XX when the value is not available from the SDAC.
  • Item C
    Generator voltage
The generator voltage is normally displayed in green.
It is displayed in amber when the value is outside the range 110V/120V as transmitted by the SDAC.
It is replaced by amber XX when the value is not available from the SDAC.
  • Item D
    Generator frequency
The generator voltage is normally displayed in green.
It is displayed in amber when the value is outside the range 390Hz/410Hz as transmitted by the SDAC.
It is replaced by amber XX when the value is not available from the SDAC.
(2) Case 2
In this case the generator is off.
The APU GEN P/B is off and the generator is not in the standby mode.
The title APU GEN is amber and the OFF indication is white.

(3) Case 3
In this case the generator is in the standby mode.

The APU GEN is in the standby mode when the APU/MASTER SW P/BSW is in OFF configuration (information from the SDAC) and the APU is not available (information from the Electronic Control Box (ECB) via the SDAC).

The title APU GEN is white.

B. APU GEN line contactor
(item 2)

The triangle is green when the APU GEN line contactor is closed as transmitted by the SDAC. It is not displayed in all other cases.

C. APU available
(Item 3)
The green AVAIL message computed by the APU Electronic Control Box (ECB) is displayed
when the APU speed N (% RPM) is above 95%.
when the APU is considered available by the ECB, and transmitted as such to the DMC: APU AVAIL signal set to true.
Then, the APU is able to provide bleed air and/or electrical power. Nothing is displayed in the other cases (or when the status of the APU is not transmitted to the DMC).

(1) Case 1
green and open when the valve is not fully closed
(2) Case 2
green and closed when the valve is fully cllosed
(3) Case 3
amber and closed when the valve is fully closed but commanded ON, confirmed 10s (APU BLEED P/B selected ON).
(4) Case 4
replaced by amber XX when the valve position is not available (when bleed air
valve status information is not available or APU bleed pushbutton status is not
available).
E. APU bleed pressure
(Item 5)
(1) Case 1
The pressure value is normally displayed in green.
(2) Case 2
It is replaced by amber XX when the bleed pressure from the SDAC and the corrected average static pressure from the ADIRU are not available.
F. FUEL LO PR indication
(item 6)
An amber FUEL LO PR is displayed when the SDAC transmits an APU FUEL LO PR signal from the ECB.
It is not displayed when the signal is missing or not available.

G. FLAP OPEN indication
(item 7)

(1) Case 1
The FLAP OPEN message is displayed in green and pulsing, when the APU air intake flap is not fully closed and the APU master pushbutton switch is off (for at least 3 min.).
(2) Case 2
The FLAP OPEN message is displayed in steady green, when the APU air intake flap is fully opened (signal received by the SDAC) and the APU master pushbutton switch is on.
(3) Case 3
The FLAP OPEN message is not displayed, when the signal is not received by the SDAC.

H. APU oil level indication
(item 8)

The message LOW OIL LEVEL is displayed in green and pulsing, when an APU oil low level signal is received from the ECB via the SDAC.
It is not displayed when the signal is missing or not available from the ECB.

(1) Case 1
The EGT is normally displayed in green.
The digital value is pulsing upon a signal from the ECB, APU EGT at limit and available.

(2) Case 2
The EGT analog and digital indications are displayed in amber when the EGT reaches the amber threshold defined by the ECB (received by the SDAC)
(3) Case 2
The EGT analog indication is displayed in amber, with the digital indication displayed in amber pulsing when the EGT reaches the amber threshold defined by the ECB (received by the SDAC), the value being still below the red threshold.
(4) Case 3
The EGT analog and digital indications are displayed in red when the EGT reaches the red threshold defined by the ECB (received by the SDAC).
(5) Case 4
When all this information is not available the analog pointer is not displayed, and the digital value is replaced by amber XX.

The analog display can vary from 300°C to 1,100°C.
The digital value is displayed from 0 to 9,995°C in 5°C steps

J. APU speed (N) indication
(item 10)

(1) Case 1
The APU (N) is normally displayed in green
(2) Case 2
It is displayed in amber when N is equal or higher than 102%
(3) Case 3
It is displayed in red when N is equal or higher than 107%.

(4) Case 4
The numerical value is replaced by amber XX when it is not available from the SDAC. In this case the needle of the analog indication is not displayed.
