DC EMERGENCY GENERATION - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

1. General
The DC emergency generation consists in the essential Transformer Rectifier (TR) and its associated contactor.
It is supplied with 115 VAC/400 Hz either by the emergency generator or by the AC normal busbars, in failure conditions.

A. Essential TR
The essential TR directly controls its contactor (3PE).
The essential TR is ventilated by natural convection.
B. Characteristics of the Essential TR
(see ATA Ref : 24-32-00).
The essential TR is fully interchangeable with both normal TRs and has the same electrical characteristics.

The essential TR is fully interchangeable with normal TR1 (1PU1) and has the same electrical properties.
NOTE: The normal TR2 (1PU2) has not the same electrical properties and is not interchangeable.

4. Operation/Control and Indicating
The essential TR starts to operate as soon as it is supplied. It is supplied in the following cases:
  • loss of TR1,
  • loss of TR2,
  • loss of both TRs,
  • loss of DC NORM BUS 1 switching contactor (1PC1) or DC ESS BUS supply contactor (4PC),
  • availability of emergency generator in operation (Ref. AMM D/O 24-24-00-00).
The essential TR is linked to the ECAM system in the same manner as the main TRs (Ref. 24-32-00, P. Block 1).
A. Reset of the Protection of the TR
Before you reset the TR, make sure that the related electrical network supplies its primary winding, in any RESET mode.
(1) From the panel 103VU
To reset the TR protection push TR RST pushbutton switch 15PU located on panel 103 VU.
(2) Description of the reset procedure
The reset procedure must be performed by selecting the SYSTEM REPORT/TEST item on the CFDS menu, then by selecting the TR 3 page from the ELEC page.
(a) If the reset is effective, the NO FAULT message appears on the MCDU.
(b) If the reset is impossible:
. the TR 3 message is displayed on the MCDU.
